Asia Trip - 11 April

11 April 2025

Our first full day in Seoul, and there was a lot that we wanted to do. First order of business, get some breakfast at a local bakery, and then from there we were off to the Sungnyemun Gate. The gate was very cool, and has a decently long history, originally constructed in 1398. It has been through several remodels.

From there, we went to a very large market for a bunch of shopping. We also visited a mall. It is difficult to describe the expanse of this market, and it is just one in the city. We found a few things, some of which was more expensive than we had an appetite for. Becky may really want to go back and get something at a fun shop that sold quilted items, but we will see.

We decided to take break after being on our feet for so long, so back to the house. Once we were ready for dinner though we went off to find a place that serves Army Base Stew. It was super good. The people at the shop seemed very worried about us, but seemed to relax as the meal went on.

We thought we would end the night with a quick trip to N Seoul Tower. We didn’t appreciate the length of time that the lines would take. The gondola ride and then trip up the tower were very cool. It did provide an amazing views. They market themselves as a very romantic date, and have really leaned on that. They sell locks to do the love lock thing, and the fences feature millions of locks.

Thankfully, we were able to get a cab back to the house, and arrived just after 11. We still needed to wash our jeans, which we needed to do in a sink.
