Cruise Day 8 - Roatan

Day 8 Roatan (Aislinn's favorite place on earth)

Roatan is very pretty with lots of jungle and mountains. We got up early today because we had to be off early to meet up with our excursion. But the Carnival Magic put us late because they got there first and the ships have to back in between the sand bar and the coral reef.  Whoever is in charge of backing up a cruise ship is very talented.

We got off and hurried to our excursion. We met up with Alvin and he took us on a tour of the island then to the zip line place.

He dropped off all the zip liners and before we left we spotted Bingo, the monkey. He was so cute and soft, so of course Aislinn and I had to hold him!

Then Alvin dropped Aislinn and I off at the beach. It is a really pretty white sand beach lined with lounge chairs.

While we waited for the boys we relaxed, did a little swimming, and watched all the vendors. They weren't allowed to walk up to us unless we talked to them.  But they would yell at us from the beach and we would just shake our heads no. There were some adorable boys selling conk shells, we asked one of them why he wasn't in school. He said his teacher was on vacation. I am not sure if I believed him. Oh well. When the boys got back they told us they had loads of fun and did some fun tricks. The zip line guys had fun with the people saying, "Hey did you know Will Smith is on the excursion with us?" It was funny.

We hung out on the beach  and played with the underwater camera.

Then Alvin took us back to the port. He is a crazy driver. At one point I thought we weren't going to make a turn. I kind of freaked out for a second. Will had to hold me down the rest of the trip.

One of the sights we saw we a shipwreck. Alvin says the 1st Mate fell asleep while at the wheel and he ran into the sand bar.  They just left it there but some people used it as salvage and was using it to make other things until the government said that it was a protected landmark. Now it just sits in the bay for sightseers.

When you get back on the boat it is fun to watch all the people coming down the pier to get on the boat.

We got cleaned up and had dinner which included some yummy escargot. There wasn't much going on for entertainment on the boat so we played cards in the Ivory Room again. We ended the night with late night pizza and ice cream.
